Vocational Education and Training in Agricultural and Economic Sustainability for Agricultural MSEs project intends to involve the agricultural sector in rural areas, where the knowledge of sustainable agriculture techniques are still to be developed and where the abandonment and its impacts on landscape features have been a striking characteristic of many European rural areas over the last decades. More specifically, the direct target groups of the activities are 10 micro enterprises, and 5 medium-sized enterprises in the agricultural sector for each territory of the organizations participating in the project: Portugal, Romania and Italy.
The first overarching goal is to increase agricultural SMEs' knowledge of the resources available to them to carry out more effective climate action and better safeguard the environment and biodiversity. The project's two ideas to accomplish this goal are its key findings. The first outcome is an improvement in the knowledge of SMEs (micro and small firms) about sustainable land use. The second result is the expansion of the leading organization's knowledge of cutting-edge sustainable agriculture methods.
The second general objective is to create the necessary skills for SMEs in agriculture to economically implement the sustainable transition and to have these economic conditions. There are two main results that the project proposes. The first outcome is the development of SME expertise in proposal writing. The second outcome is the expansion of SMEs' business management skills.
The project aims to increase the number of lands making the transition to a more sustainable agriculture through involving 45 beneficiaries: 30 participants from micro-enterprises 15 participants from small agricultural enterprises.
